Let's Talk Thursday: Episode 9

Hello Awesome Visitors! Let's talk for a minute. Disclaimer:  Before we go on, I want to let you know on these topics, I'm no expert. I am just speaking on my own experiences or those by others. There was a very telling post on C. Desert Rose's blog a few days ago.  To sum it all up, there were two traditionally published authors that she recognized who managed to make Indie Author Land's 50 Self Published Books Worth Reading list.  Rose couldn't understand how this was possible.  The response she received from Indie Author Land itself was less than satisfactory. In my opinion, Rose didn't put up the post to start any trouble.  She did it because she wants genuine interaction and feedback from others in regards to the issue.  Yet with the exception of a handful, she's been met with silence. Silence can speak more volumes than words: One, it could mean that people really don't care. Two, it could mean that it is happening but peop

Cover Artist Shout Out

Hello everyone! I normally keep my posts to Sundays and Thursdays but I'm breaking out of routine for a special occasion.  I want to talk about All Authors Graphics Design .  They are the ones who have designed all of my covers, and each cover I have a special fondness. First I want to talk about Kona.  It was the first work that was ever seen by others.  I wanted something eye catching, yet not typical at the same time.  You see, covers of a mainstream variety (even the ones with the drop dead gorgeous girl or handsome hunk on the cover ), while being embraced by others, don't really fit the type of thing I'm going for.  I believe more in standing out than blending in. I'm a fan of the glass coffee mug (gotta get me one of those) and all of the rich colors that encompass coffee. KONA : Always free, always available Smashwords & Scribd Not too long after Kona, I released Simmer Sweet.  Based on the story line, someone did suggest with me it

Hello Awesome Visitors! Let's talk for a minute. Disclaimer:  Before we go on, I want to let you know on these topics, I'm no expert. I am just speaking on my own experiences or those by others. Not too long ago, I stopped by All Authors Blog to give them an exclusive.  It was the first time I ever discussed "Convoluted Prism" in reference to the blurb and the concept. If one were to divide "Convoluted Prism" as far as genre, it would most closely fit three categories: It is part autobiographical because a lot of the things discussed are events that did happen to me.   It is part fiction because I designed a story line around the real experiences.  Although the majority of the characters are based on real people, you will find just as many characters that function to serve the fictional story line aspect only. It is part poetry because I do sprinkle a bit of it here and there in the narrative. I got about 80% of the way in and t

Hello Awesome Visitors! Let's talk for a minute. Disclaimer:  Before we go on, I want to let you know on these topics, I'm no expert. I am just speaking on my own experiences or those by others. Let's get to it. Confession:  I absolutely hate Marketing.  I'm not saying that I don't like to meet new people and interact with them.   I'm becoming a wee bit frustrated because what I put out isn't being returned to me. I currently have my regular Facebook page completely public.  As long as someone doesn't cause a ruckus, I have no problem accepting anyone's friend request. When people send me requests to like their pages, I stop by and give it a like.  I have not discriminated on my liking practices either. I figure it in this way:  I'll have it set up this way until I'm given a reason not to. I stop by people's spots and say hi, and even want to get involved in dialogue.  It's a social network, yet no one seems like t

Source:  http://www.gameranx.com Hello Awesome Visitors! Let's talk for a minute. Disclaimer:  Before we go on, I want to let you know on these topics, I'm no expert. I am just speaking on my own experiences or those by others. Let's get to it. One of the things my publisher has told me is the importance of networking.  I decided to join a few Facebook groups.  I'm taking things one step at a time and very content with the few I've been exposed to so far.  I'm not certain how I feel about automatically getting added to stuff but that's a whole different topic for another "Let's Talk". One of the people in the group shared the reviews she received from Blue Ink Review and Kirkus .  From what I gather, there is a great deal of recognition in association with those two names.  That's not what made me rub my chin.  What made me do so is the fact that: (1)  She paid for the reviews. (2)  The reviews were relatively short b

Monday Madness from special guest Queen of Spades (Did she say FREE?)

Facebook | Twitter Hello everyone! Queen of Spades is back in the building.  I thought I heard her mention something that had the word "FREE" in it but it could be time for me to get my hearing checked.... No, Desire! You're absolutely right. Today, May 5th, my latest work Private Pain: Amidst These Ashes is FREE on Kindle .   My grandfather believed strongly in the spirit of giving.  On May 5th, my grandfather lost his battle with cancer. I wanted to come up with a different way to pay homage to him on the third anniversary of his passing. He always was supportive of my writing so it only seemed fitting. That is beautifully touching.  Thank you so much for stopping by! All the information about this work is below: Private Pain Book Trailer Blurb: In Life, one is expected to put her best face forward, but what if the process of revealing her best face involves putting the demons on display? Would the journey continue? Or would one stop dead in h

Special Sunday Speak: A Queen and Her Reflections

Image
Welcome everyone to Sunday Speak!  In my last one, I talked about characters.  This time around, everyone is here for a treat.  I am honored to give Queen of Spades the floor for Sunday Speak as well as have her march around for Monday.  It's great that I have the spare bedroom all ready for her to rest in. Queen:  Thanks for that.  I appreciate it. You know I don't pull a lot of punches so let's get to it.  You did say I could ask you anything, right? Queen:  Related to the book, yes. Fair enough.  Out of all of your poetic works, you have said that Reflections of Soul is the one with the most universal appeal.  Can you explain why? Queen:  I say that for a number of reasons.  First, it's a relatively tiny book.  Second, there are certain things that others can relate to whether they typically read poetry or not.  This adds to the appeal.  Not to say my other works aren't attractive in their own rights but Reflections of Soul seems to strike a

Let's Talk Thursday: Special Guest C. Desert Rose

Facebook much? Twitter Talk? Good Who...oh Reads? Website? In this episode of Let's Talk Thursday, I'm doing something a bit different.  One of my All Authors Publishing House sisters is here to reveal the cover of her upcoming novel, If Death Should Love Me (Book One of the Fate's Endeavor series).  Please give some happy claps, some sensual moans, and some squeals of pleasure to C. Desert Rose! BLURB: A dull roar, that's all I could hear. Souls, that's all I could see... So many people. Some good. Some bad. Some breathing. Some barely breathing. All souls. It was funny what you could see when you stood in the middle of the Emergency Room. Who survived. Who didn’t. All of them, every one, a soul. A soul for the taking. So begins your introduction to the floating, clustered world of souls that will have such influence on Sophia, the young Puerto Rican-American girl who has just lost her closest ally, her grandmother, "Abuela". It
