The Characters of My Universe (part 2)

Image
Hello Awesome Visitors! It's time for a new episode of ... This is a continuation of last Thursday's "Let's Talk". So ... to get caught up, please click here . The characters I may (or may not) consider strong will be from my contributions to The Divergent Ink short story anthology collection. To date, there are two books completed from this collection, Crackles of the Heart and Pleasure Prints . Each book centers around a question, and each participant has to answer the question in one's own way in short story form. The question posed in Crackles of the Heart was "Can the hot, handsome guy fall for the average, awkward woman?" My story featured in Crackles is "Seven Days of Stimuli". My awkward character's name is Bette. Bette is a hard-working small-town woman with simple pleasures. When visually stunning Jesse comes into the store on what's normally her day off, her mind accelerates into complex overdrive. The story follows Bette...

The Characters of My Universe (part 1)

Image
Hello Awesome Visitors! Welcome to another episode of ... Today, I want to address a question that came about as I was chatting with my Sisters and Brethren in Write. The discussion centered around character building and if any of us ever built a "weak character" or perceived any of our characters as "weak individuals". It made me think of some of my characters in a few of my stories. Today, I would like to talk about some of my characters as well as provide excerpts from each. Just for a bit of brevity, I'm going to divide this into parts. I will also spread this out (like Part One for this Thursday, Part Two for next Thursday, and so forth). Part One will focus on characters in my individual works. Part Two will focus on my characters in the Divergent Ink collection. Part Three will focus on my characters in the Concordant Vibrancy collection. Part One Read more here . The first character up for discussion i...

Let's Talk Thursday: The "Vibrancy" Overview

Image
Hello Awesome Visitors! Guess what time it is? It is time for a new episode of ... Today, I want to do a bit of an overview of "All Things Concordant Vibrancy" and share some excerpts from each entry that was part of each book. I am currently working on my contribution to Concordant Vibrancy 5 , which I hear will be the last book in the series. Concordant Vibrancy 1 Element: Earth My story: "Lester's Release" Excerpt: The leather chairs of the conference room rolled backward. Everyone quickly opened the double doors. While his boss and fellow co-workers scurried to the banquet hall for lunch, Lester stayed behind packing up his laptop and projector. The click echoed slightly after he unlocked his briefcase. Lester tossed the bundle of papers inside.  As he shoved his favorite gel pens into the corner pocket, he felt a smooth surface. His gray eyes sparkled with glee. Ensuring the conference room doors were still closed, he pulled the shiny discovery from his bri...

Let's Talk Thursdays: It's Not A Magic Wand

Hello Awesome Visitors! Welcome to another episode of ... This episode of inspired by some words I heard from a song. Normally I don't pay this particular artist any mind but since the beat was catchy I let the song play. One particular line caught my attention, and it's this notion that if a woman just finds the right guy, his sex game can change her sexual proclivity. Unfortunately, it's not just this particular entertainer who spouts that. I'm not going to say he actually thinks it because he was probably trying to find a cool word to rhyme with "safe" and thought "straight" was close enough. I've heard it as some line in a cheesy X-rated film. I have seen it some of the lesser-known erotica literature. Yet, I've rarely (if ever) heard the reverse touted ... that a woman can put it on a man so fierce that it will change his sexual preference from "only pole", "either/or", to "completely straight". Does that me...

Let's Talk Thursday: Intimacy Woes

Image
Hello Awesome Visitors. Today marks another installment of ... I want to steer away from the writing and promoting for a moment. I am curious how intimacy has been impacted since the onslaught of this pandemic. For those of you who are coupled, and one or both of you are deemed essential, do you ever worry about the risk that you may get COVID-19? Has worry about COVID-19 in a state of coupledom worked to increase the intimacy or sexual activity, or has worry dampened your desires to do anything? For the uncoupled, does it make you happier to be single? If you have companions on standby, have you interacted with them less via practicing social distancing? Have you found new ways to communicate without physical visits? Or are you throwing caution to the wind and still getting together anyway? Well, in case any of you are shy about sharing, I will go first. I have been single for quite a while but haven't been mingling. I don't have a sex...

Signing Off The "Gram"

Image
Hello Awesome Visitors! I'm back with another episode of ... Today I'll be talking about Social Platforms and a decision I've made in regards to one of them. At first, I was very excited about the number of different avenues out there, so in all of the excitement, I tried my hand at all of them. What I have discovered is that some avenues aren't for everyone. Facebook has always felt easier for me, especially when you can time your posts so you won't have to be "on" all the time. It also helps to connect it with Twitter so I don't have to be on Twitter constantly. One medium I have been unable to acclimate to has been Instagram. I don't have a lot of pictures to share. I rarely even use it. At one point, I was going to have Instateasers for each of my projects but during my marketing revamp, I decided to go in a different direction. Not all of my creations require the same amount of hype, which removed Instateasers off the tabl...

Convoluted Prism: The Ever Changing Landscape

Image
Hello Awesome Visitors! Welcome back to another installment of: Today I want to discuss something that I haven't in a very long time. I want to discuss Convoluted Prism and what's going on with that. I first started talking about Convoluted Prism shortly after I got signed up with All Authors Publishing House ... say around 2014-2015 or so. I was in the rhythm of writing the 1st book, got about forty percent into the work. One of the few quirks about me is that I tend to plot out my serial works in advance. Knowing how many books it's going to contain. Getting the direction of things set up, the whole nine. I do this, usually, prior to working on or completing the first book. Just when I was in the groove, a lot of things happened. The professional disruption I covered in a prior post. However, what I often don't talk about are events happening in my personal life. Because some segments of Convoluted Prism tie into my own timeline, the per...

Let's Talk Thursdays: Application for Companionship

Image
Hello Awesome Visitors! It's time for another episode of ... Today I decided that I'm going to have a bit of fun, since the last LTT seemed a bit heavy. Even I have to let off some steam every now and again. So ... I was looking at this film on Netflix called Juanita. It was about this lady who felt stagnant in her life, so she decided to travel west. Originally she had settled on Butte, Montana, but due to meeting a truck driver along the way, Juanita changed her mind and rode with the truck driver to this town called Paper Moon. While in Paper Moon, she meets this Native American man; through their interactions, they change each others' lives. I found it very funny as well as touching. While watching this, I thought about my adventures of love ... well, okay, in hindsight mainly, lust ... and loss. I have been single for quite some years, which has given me some time to think about what I really desire. Jokingly, one of my sistren in write told me I shoul...
